Quick Summary of Estate Planning Provisions - House Ways and Means Bill September 2021
On September 15, 2021, the House Ways and Means Committee approved a massive $3.5 trillion spending and tax package. The package included several provisions that affect estate planning, which are summarized below. Note that this is only the first step toward becoming law, and ultimate passage is uncertain at this time. Furthermore, this summary only deals with proposals that were in the bill; there still could be other changes. Nevertheless, some taxpayers may want to take steps now in anticipation of these provisions being enacted.
